March 2, 2012

Novato, CA – The Novato Housing Coalition (NHC) announced last night at a full capacity event attended by over 100 people that they are joining forces with Stand Up for Neighborly Novato.

"The Novato Housing Coalition has been a trailblazer for housing advocacy in Novato, spending ten years preserving and developing housing opportunities for individuals and families," said the Rev. Pamela Griffith Pond, spokesperson for Stand Up for Neighborly Novato.

"We are honored that NHC has entrusted us with the responsibility of taking over their work and look forward to integrating their volunteers and programs into our organization. We are confident this consolidation will help streamline our housing advocacy and make us more efficient and effective as we work to create housing options and to keep Novato a neighborly, open and welcoming town."

Speakers at the event included Supervisor Judy Arnold and Novato Mayor Denise Athas, as well as individuals who benefit or could benefit from affordable housing.

Stand Up for Neighborly Novato advocates for housing solutions for Novato residents and workforce through community values of respect, civility and compassion for each other by educating the public on the need for reasonably priced housing and helping those in need – seniors, recent graduates, young working families, disabled residents and others.

Over 1,000 Novato residents, community leaders like Rep. Lynn Woolsey and esteemed organizations like the League of Women Voters have endorsed Stand Up for Neighborly Novato's mission to advocate for more housing options.
